As the Christmas Market Galway returns and we are starting to look towards the festive season, here is our low down on just some of the events happening in Galway city this Friday evening.

Monroe’s Live
7pm: A Dynamic Folk Rock Fusion with Scythian at Monroe’s Live
A thunderous fusion of Celtic, Eastern and Appalachian traditions comes together in the high energy performances of Scythian on Friday, November 10th at Monroe’s Live. Named after Ukrainian nomads, this dynamic four-piece is composed of talented musicians who bring various influences together to create exciting music steeped in various folk traditions.
Described by Nashville’s Music City Roots as “what happens when rock star charisma meets Celtic dervish fiddling,” Scythian’s electrifying renditions have earned them a devoted following. Comprising of Alexander Fedoryka on vocals, fiddle, mandolin and harmonica, Danylo Fedoryka on vocals, guitar and accordion, Ethan Dean on vocals, bass, percussion and guitar and Johnny Rees on vocals, drums and percussion.
The Washington based quartet met in college over 12 years ago united by their passion for the bluegrass and Americana genre. As first generation sons of Ukrainian immigrants, classically trained brothers Alexander and Danylo Fedoryka set out to create a celebration of old time music that captures the spirit of their ancestors, and resonates with many cultures.
Fresh from performing at the acclaimed Milwaukee Irish Festival in the US, this is a unique chance to catch Scythian in Galway as they embark on their 10th anniversary Irish tour. Don’t miss your chance to experience this incredible band at Monroe’s Live on Friday, November 10th at 7pm.
Tickets cost €15 and are available from Scythian at Monroe’s Live
