It’s been a week of glorious Salthill sunrises, September showers and an acceptance that we are finally welcoming autumn – albeit reluctantly.  What is certain is Galway’s continuing dedication as the ultimate venue for live music. Whether it’s a Nirvana tribute at Monroe’s, bopping to Bollywood at DNA, sashaying the night away at Club GASS at the Róisín, or enjoying the very best of local live bands with Evoke at The Skeff and Dakota at The Quays, it’s non-stop here in the city of the tribes this Friday night. Read on to find out more about what’s happening right here with our gig guide.

Monroe’s Live

11pm: Relive the Grunge Rock of Nirvana with Negative Creeps at Monroe’s Live

With a ferocious blend of screaming guitars, thunderous drums, and pulsating basslines, Negative Creeps capture the essence of Nirvana’s music, transporting audiences back to the raw, rebellious spirit of the 90s.  The Newry based three piece are looking forward to their return to the award-winning Dominick Street venue, as they are back once again to deliver the explosive live experience that honours the iconic grunge legends.

“We always look forward to playing in Monroe’s,” says bass player with the band Patrick Campbell. The crowd is always well up for a Nirvana show and we love playing there.”

Patrick is joined by Seán McAlinden on guitar and Del McParland on drums to bring the work of the grunge rockers to life.

From searing guitar riffs to pulsating rhythms and the surge of alt-rock lyrics, this is a chance for fans old and new to revel in the nostalgia of Nirvana’s heyday.

“We all grew up listening to Nirvana and have been together as a band recreating their music for ten years,” continues Patrick.  “They made a global impact on the music scene in such a short space of time, writing classic songs which everyone loves.”

“It’s hard to believe that next year is the 30th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s untimely death.  He was one of the best songwriters of all time and the band were the Beatles of their day.  We are delighted to play their timeless songs live on stage in Galway this September,” he concludes.

Tickets cost €13 and are available from Ticket Link to Negative Creeps
