Get ready for an unforgettable Friday of music and entertainment in Galway this August 4th! As we are galloping through Race Week, it’s been back to back live bands, dynamic DJs and a feast of glamour and style.  As is often said, Galway is not just a place, it’s a way of life.

Tantalising Tributes:

At Monroe’s Live, James Bermingham and his band, The Star People take you on a musical journey through George Michael’s illustrious career, while the Róisín Dubh also comes alive to the tribute sounds of Abbaesque, who have been wowing audiences for 21 years.

Rock and Pop Anthems:

For a taste of rock and pop anthems, head over to The King’s Head, where The Lewd Tunes will have you on your feet all night long. This award-winning seven-piece band will keep the dance floor buzzing with their talent and dynamism. Or you can rock out to Money4Cans at The Cellar Bar, where this high-energy four-piece brings their love of music to the stage with a fast and furious gig, or enjoy Galway stalwarts Pyramid at Seven on Bridge Street.

At The Quays Music Hall, The Mindbenders are celebrating 30 years of rocking the music scene, while at the Skeff Late Bar and Kitchen, Evoke will captivate you with their signature style blending indie, alternative rock, and folk with their unique twist on classic covers.

Peaky Blinders:

If you’re up for a night of Peaky Blinders-inspired fun, head over to DNA Nightclub, where the venue will be transformed into The Garrison Tavern. With DJ Tommy Shelby on the decks, a photo booth, themed prizes, and fancy dress, this roaring 20s Gatsby Party promises a gritty and glamorous night to remember.

Monroe’s Live:

9pm: Relive the Hits of George Michael with the Talent of James Bermingham at Monroe’s Live

Renowned artist, James Bermingham will transform into the legendary George Michael for an extraordinary night of music on Friday, August 4th at Monroe’s Live. Together with his band, The Star People, he will masterfully recreate a range of classics, from the Wham era to George’s iconic solo tracks like Faith, Fast Love and the soul-stirring Careless Whisper.

This is a welcome return for James as he brings ‘The Amazing George Michael Tribute’ to the award winning Monroe’s Live stage once again. Róisín Dubh

8pm: ABBAesque

With an unbeatable mix of pop-rock and disco, ABBAesque have been at the forefront of tribute bands for two decades. With over 150 sold-out concerts annually, they’ve achieved phenomenal success, making them one of the most sought-after acts. Not to mention their electrifying performances at Ireland’s major festivals and venues across the country.

In fact, they were invited to pay homage to the legendary ABBA on RTE’s The Late Late Show, commemorating their 40th anniversary win of the Eurovision song contest. Most notably, they collaborated with the RTE Concert Orchestra, delivering an unforgettable musical experience at the National Concert Hall. This award winning seven- piece band have gained recognition as the Mrs2Be Wedding Band of the Year. With the aim to keep you on the dancefloor all night long, they are guaranteed to have you on your feet as they deliver classic songs and anthems in a non-stop night of stomping songs. Money4Cans

Born out of a love of music and the famous busking scene in Galway city, Money 4 Cans are a four-piece who bring their own flavour to rock and pop anthems, while working on their original music.  Regularly found on the streets of the city, this vibrant group play everything from Nirvana to the Saw Doctors with a bit of La Bamba thrown in for good measure. Or perhaps some Twist and Shout. Without doubt, it’s set to be a fast and furious gig with gritty vocals, rousing guitars and bass. And you might find a rollicking sax instrumental or two. Join this up and coming band with a true busking heart, Money 4 Cans, at The Cellar bar on Eglinton Street this Friday night.

The Quays Music Hall

10pm: The Mindbenders

This Derry and Donegal based four piece band are celebrating 30 years since their formation as a group. With an extensive set-list that covers many genres, The Mindbenders play a feast of hits and originals. Together, they are a rocking musical powerhouse, as their dynamic live performances have stood the test of time, with three decades of experience on the music landscape.

Expect to find a vibrant and bustling atmosphere, as Evoke bring their take on classic covers, rock anthems and more. DNA Nightclub

Doors open 10pm: Peaky Blinders Gatsby Party

Dust off your suspenders, caps and pearls for a roaring 20s Peaky Blinders themed night at Galway’s plush late night venue, DNA. Transport yourself back to the Gatsby era as DNA is transformed into The Garrison Tavern for one night only.

DJ Tommy Shelby himself will be at the decks as this massive fancy dress party kicks into gear. With a photo booth onsite and Peaky Blinder themed prizes, drinks and cocktails, this will be a gritty and glamourous night to remember. As you walk through the doors, the ambiance will be set for a true authentic experience, reminiscent of the underground establishments frequented by the Shelby family.
