The June bank holiday weekend marks the start of the summer season, as we welcome an influx of tourists from home and abroad.
Here in Salthill, by the shores of Galway Bay, we cater primarily for family groups. But what sets us apart is the friendly welcome that families are guaranteed, with a huge choice of activities to keep young and old happy.
While Salthill has enjoyed flying the Blue Flag for the quality of its beaches for years, this year, for the first time, it has recently been awarded the Purple Flag — which is an international accreditation programme that signifies quality and safe destinations after dark.
For the young (and not so young!) ones, there are fun-filled days in store at Curry’s Funpark, with its giant Big Wheel.
It’s located next door to the Leisureland swimming pool complex, offering the thrills of a 65-metre water slide and a Commando Run inflatable obstacle course, as well as a gym, 250-metre pool and a separate pool for the littlest ones. Explore the fascinating underwater world at Ireland’s largest native species aquarium, Galway Atlantaquaria, which boasts 70 exhibits over two floors.
Or spend an afternoon, in the expanded Seapoint Leisure indoor family entertainment centre and the Salthill Omniplex cinema, with fully electric reclining seats and extra leg room in all screens.
But, first up on the Bank Holiday weekend of June 3rd and 4th is the Salthill Fives – back after a 6 year hiatus.
Salthill Park will host the iconic two day event, promising to be a spectacle with top class Soccer, Food Village, Health & Wellness exhibits and real ‘buzz’. Salthill just about has it all. You’ll want to come back again and again.
