A Festival Vibe for the Renewed Salthill Fives

After a seven year break, there are celebrations in Salthill with the return of the national five-a-side tournament, The Salthill Fives, taking place on June 3rd and 4th. With renewed energy, new sponsors and a focus on health and wellbeing, it’s gearing up to be a weekend of family fun, as this Salthill institution is reignited with vigour.

Featuring a men’s tournament, U13 boys and U13 girls, the Salthill Fives is transforming into a weekend festival. Included in the weekend festivities are a food village, outdoor gym, yoga classes and a host of family friendly events.

The men’s tournament teams are guaranteed three games each – €175 per team, U13 boys and U13 girls is knockout format – €100 per team.

A Part of Salthill’s History:

Run by Salthill Devon FC, the Salthill Fives was a staple on the sporting calendar for over forty years. Now, it is back with renewed vision and an inclusive ethos.

“We are back!” says Salthill Devon FC Chairman, Pete Kelly.

“Salthill Devon is bringing back the Salthill Fives and what a weekend it promises to be.  Furthermore, the event is back with new sponsors, new energy and a new image in line with a broader message of family fun, health and well-being.

Croí, the events charity partner, is delighted to be part of the tournament and raise awareness about heart disease and stroke prevention. In addition, the charity has committed to hosting their cardiovascular nurse specialist at the event to teach people about risks for heart disease and stroke.

A Community Event:

Kevin Nugent, owner of Ground and Co, the main tournament sponsor is excited to support the local community.

“We are extremely proud to be able to sponsor the Fives,” says Kevin.

“Being part of our local community is a big part of our ethos and we are delighted with this partnership”
