World Renowned Theatrical Group Macnas will join the Celebrations:
A community carnival of colour and spectacle will see over 1,500 participants take to the streets of Galway for the highly anticipated St. Patrick’s Day parade. And they will be joined by the vibrant theatrical displays of Macnas and Galway Community Circus.
It’s set to be an exciting celebration. Crowds will gather as the 2023 parade route starts at 11am from the University of Galway, travelling across the Salmon Weir Bridge, down Eglinton Street and onto Eyre Square. Importantly, two accessible areas for viewing the parade will be available
Free Eyre Square Music Festival
It’s all part of the three-day St Patrick’s Festival, taking place from Friday, March 17th from 3pm-7pm and on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th from 2pm-7pm. Here, the Eyre Square Music Festival will come to life with an array of local musicians and artists. Together, they will capture the buzz of Galway’s musical heritage over the weekend in the dedicated festival village.
Family Fun Sports Day
Not only that, but a free family fun sports day takes place in Salthill Park on Sunday, March 19th. It’s all part of a full weekend of sporting activities for all the family in association with Galway Sports Partnership.
