McGinn’s Hop House at 19 Woodquay has made its mark in the heart of Galway city. Just a step away from the landmark Town Hall Theatre, the lovingly reclaimed interior at McGinn’s shows the attention to detail in this much-loved bar and eatery. Renowned for their wood fired pizza and craft beers, there is so much more on offer at this vibrant venue. With an extensive menu and a warm and inviting atmosphere, it’s the perfect place for a bite to eat or to party the night away.
From Harland and Wolfe to Woodquay
McGinn’s has earned its place as a popular Galway spot. By transforming the interior using reclaimed materials, it has an old world feel with a modern twist. For example, the parquet floor itself has a history of its own. Salvaged from the world-famous Harland and Wolfe shipyard in Belfast – where the ill-fated Titanic was built – it now resides in Woodquay. Ultimately, this is thanks to the foresight of the McGinn’s Hop House team.
Wicklow Wolf to Guinness
Not only that, but the ceiling is crafted from metal tiles dating back to the 1800s. Here, they are restored from an Oklahoma farmhouse. Coupled with the aroma from their wood fired oven, this is the place where the past brings the present to life. McGinn’s set about creating a bar dedicated to craft beers. For example, a Wicklow Wolf Amber Ale sits alongside the traditional pint of Guinness. This is one of their 24 specialty brews on tap.
And they have developed a strong reputation for their wood fired pizza and tasty bites. Whether it’s a full Irish or a soup of the day, a hearty steak or the ‘Big McG’ burger, you are sure to enjoy the best of fresh produce in comfort.
